SAFETY: brake sticks or stops working
Several reviewers report the brake pedal sticking or failing altogether, and describe it as stiff from new. This comes up repeatedly rather than as a one-off.
Likely fix: Clean and lubricate the pedal pivot and brake rod. If the brake no longer positively locks the wheels, stop using the buggy - claim under warranty if it is under 12 months old, otherwise get a repairer to look at it. Chicco UK do not sell pushchair spares.
Buggy steers heavily or pulls, as if the brake is half on
The Bravo has a cable that locks the front wheels inward when it folds. Owners report the cable slipping out of position so the lock tabs hang low permanently, and the buggy then steers heavily and pulls even when unfolded with the brake off.
Likely fix: Tip the buggy and reseat the metal cable and tab on the front wheel housing so the tabs sit clear. If the cable has stretched or come away at the crimp it needs a repairer, as Chicco UK do not sell pushchair spares.
Buggy will not fold even though the handle pulls
Owners report the one-hand fold handle activating but the frame staying up, usually because the brake is off, the seat is not fully upright, or the swivel-lock cable is jammed.
Likely fix: Brake on, seat fully upright, canopy pushed back, then pull the fold strap squarely. If it still will not fold the fold latch has probably seized, which needs a repairer since the latch is not sold as a part.
Crunching or rumbling front wheels, vibration on smooth ground
Owners describe a crunching or rumbling noise from the front wheels and noticeable vibration even on flat pavement, getting worse over time.
Likely fix: Strip the wheel spindles, clean out hair and grit, and re-grease. Once the bearing itself is worn the wheel assembly needs replacing, and with no UK spares that means a repairer fitting a generic bearing or a used donor wheel.
Harness twists constantly and the crotch strap is short
Owners report the harness twisting every time and the crotch strap being very short, making a correct fit hard to achieve - one reviewer called it unsafe.
Likely fix: Unthread the straps completely and re-run them flat through the seat slots, and check the shoulder slot height suits your child. Aftermarket Bravo 5-point buckle and strap sets exist on eBay, though not from Chicco UK.
Auto-fold jams or does not complete
The Goody auto-fold is generally well liked, but there are warranty complaints about the mechanism not operating properly.
Likely fix: Warranty claim. The auto-fold is an integrated sprung assembly, not user-serviceable and not sold as a part.
Front wheels turn hard, squeak, or feel stubborn (Bravo)
A very commonly reported Bravo issue - often caused by the auto-swivel-lock cable (which locks the front wheels when folded) slipping out of place.
Likely fix: Most of these aren't manufacturing faults - checking and reseating the swivel-lock cable resolves many cases within an hour. If the cable itself is frayed or broken, that part can be replaced without needing a new wheel unit.
Folding arm won't close fully, or opens on its own
Reported across several Chicco models - the fold latch doesn't catch securely.
Likely fix: Check the latch for debris or wear first. A latch that still won't hold once clean typically needs the fold-latch part replaced rather than the whole frame.
