Bearing rusted solid onto the axle, wheel will not come off
A very common YOYO failure. Owners also report the official replacement wheel pack arriving with no axle screws, and being unable to buy the screws separately, so an expensive buggy gets binned over a tiny part.
Likely fix: The method owners agree on: fit a bolt of the same thread but longer, screw it in until it bottoms out on metal, then hammer the bolt head so the force travels down the shaft rather than through the threads. Support the wheel on something hard such as a large socket, not on rubber, which absorbs the blow. Do not hammer a part-unscrewed original screw, as that strips the threads. A bike shop with a bearing puller will often do it in minutes. Things owners tried that did NOT work: WD-40, an overnight vinegar soak, a hair dryer, and the freezer.
Harness buckle cracked or broken
The plastic harness buckle cracks or snaps. Some owners online suggest repairing it with plastic bonding adhesive.
Likely fix: Do not glue or patch a harness buckle. It is the restraint holding your child in a fall or collision, and a glued joint gives no warning before it fails. Replace it. Stokke do not sell YOYO harnesses separately, so this means an aftermarket seat-fabric-with-harness unit or a repairer.
SAFETY RECALL: parking brake can release on its own (YOYO3 only)
The parking brake can disengage unintentionally, letting the stroller roll away with the child in it. Around 2,890 units sold September to October 2024, with serial numbers starting 142AA followed by a number below 0062239. YOYO, YOYO+ and YOYO2 are NOT affected.
Likely fix: Check the serial number first. If it matches, stop using it immediately. Stokke are giving a full refund through their recall registration; no repair is offered.
Brake pedal has snapped or pushed through
The plastic brake pedal cracks or shears off its fixings, leaving nothing to press.
Likely fix: Repairable, but not through Stokke, who do not sell brakes. Independent pram-part specialists stock the pedal with its fixing kit and it is a straightforward swap for a repairer. Buy the kit rather than just the pedal, as the fixings are easily lost.
Harness buckle stuck, too stiff to click in or release
The central buckle gets progressively stiffer until it will not fasten or will not let go, caused by dried milk, food and grit inside the housing.
Likely fix: Soak the buckle in warm water only and work it repeatedly, then dry fully. Never lubricate a harness buckle. Stokke do not sell YOYO harnesses, so a genuinely broken buckle means an aftermarket seat-fabric-with-harness unit or a repairer.
Frame screws working loose, rattles and play developing
Rattles and play appear as frame screws back out with vibration. Replacement screw sets for YOYO frames are sold as a kit, which suggests this is routine rather than isolated.
Likely fix: A periodic hex-key check over every frame joint fixes it, and screw and bolt kits are widely available. If the same joint keeps loosening the thread has stripped, which needs a repairer.
Front wheel wobbles or feels loose
The single most reported YOYO issue - a worn front wheel bearing, very common with regular use on hard pavement.
Likely fix: Usually fixed by replacing just the front wheel/bearing, not the whole chassis. All YOYO wheels (YOYO, YOYO+, YOYO2) are cross-compatible, so there's no "wrong wheel for your model" risk.
New wheels won't push on, or old ones won't come off
This is very rarely a "wrong size wheel" problem - it's almost always the bearing seized or corroded onto the axle.
Likely fix: A seized bearing usually needs the axle replaced along with it, which is a workshop job rather than a driveway fix. If there's no repairer nearby, a full chassis replacement is the fallback.
Where can I find a car seat that fits my YOYO?
With the official adapters, the YOYO (YOYO, YOYO+, YOYO2, YOYO³) fits Cybex Aton Q, Cloud Q and Aton 2, BeSafe iZi Go and iZi Go Modular, and Maxi-Cosi seats. The adapters themselves are cross-compatible across the whole YOYO range.
Likely fix: Double-check which side (left/right) adapter you're buying if purchasing individually - some listings sell them as a single side rather than a pair.
Where can I buy a footmuff for my YOYO?

Likely fix: Sold in several colours - check current stock across official and authorised retailers if your first-choice colour is out.
