Front wheel bearing fails, wheel scrapes or wanders
The most consistently reported Zelia fault. The front wheel axle assembly is plastic with no metal reinforcement, and owners report the bearing breaking and the wheel scraping from around seven months, or wheels that will not track straight.
Likely fix: Not repairable at bearing level, the front wheel assembly is replaced as a unit. Maxi-Cosi sell front and rear wheel kits, though UK owners report availability problems. This is a design weakness rather than misuse.
Brake sticks and will not release on one side
One side of the linked brake stays engaged after release so the pram pulls to one side. On the Adorra some owners report the brake failing outright and needing a replacement chassis within months.
Likely fix: Clean and lubricate the brake linkage first. If only one side releases after that, the linked brake bar is faulty, which is a repairer or warranty job.
SAFETY: fold release stiffens, then the stroller collapses in use
Owners report the fold release buttons getting progressively harder to pull, followed by the stroller collapsing on its own, in at least one case with a child in it. The stiffening appears to be the warning sign.
Likely fix: Do not treat growing stiffness in the Lila fold release as something to lubricate. Report it to Maxi-Cosi as a safety and warranty claim.
Sun mesh panel torn and cannot be replaced
The mesh sun panel is stitched into the seat unit, so when a child kicks a hole in it, which is commonly reported, it cannot be swapped out.
Likely fix: There is no fix, as the panel is not sold separately and repair means replacing the whole seat unit. Worth knowing before paying for a repair quote.
Seat recline buttons jam
The side recline buttons stick, making it hard to bring the seat back upright from lie-flat.
Likely fix: Usually grit or a dried spill in the button housings, so clean and silicone-lubricate. Persistent jamming means the recline hardware needs replacing, which is a repairer job.
Front wheels squeak or stick after light use
A commonly reported issue after roughly a month of use - usually the wheel bearings drying out rather than a manufacturing fault.
Likely fix: Safe to check yourself first: a wheel-bearing-safe grease or spray lubricant on the axle often resolves it. If squeaking continues after lubrication, the bearing itself likely needs replacing.
Recline buttons stick or the seat won't recline smoothly (Zelia)
Reported on Zelia models - the circular recline buttons on the seat sides get stuck or stop responding.
Likely fix: This is the recline mechanism itself wearing, not user error - it typically needs the recline button/mechanism part replaced rather than being freed up long-term with lubricant.
