SAFETY RECALL: seat can tip backwards in parent-facing mode
A loose seat latch lets the seat tip backwards without warning when parent-facing. Ten incidents were reported. Affects units made between August 2014 and April 2016, identified by the lot number on the sewn-in label.
Likely fix: This is a recall, not a repair. Stop using it and contact Mamas and Papas Customer Care for the free fix kit.
Brake sticks on, or needs hard stamping to release
Owners report the brake pedal jamming engaged and needing repeated hard presses to free, sometimes with only one rear wheel locking.
Likely fix: Usually grit and hair in the rear wheel housings with a dry linkage. Take the rear wheels off, clean the axles and brake bar, and use silicone spray, which is what the Ocarro manual specifies. If one wheel never locks, check it is fully seated on the correct side; persistent one-sided locking is a brake bar or cable fault for a repairer.
Brake cable has snapped, pedal moves but nothing engages
The internal metal brake cable breaks, leaving the pedal floppy and the brake permanently off.
Likely fix: Not DIY-serviceable and the cable is not sold online. Under two years, claim on warranty; otherwise phone Mamas and Papas Customer Care, who take spares orders by phone only, or use an independent pram repairer. Do not use the pram in the meantime.
Harness buckle stiff and hard to click home
Frequently described as a fiddly, stiff clip that is hard to fasten and release, getting worse as milk and food residue build up inside.
Likely fix: Detach the harness and soak the buckle in warm water only, with no detergent or oil, then work it thirty times and dry fully. If the prongs are bent or it releases under load, replace it through Customer Care, since a buckle that will not hold is safety critical.
Leatherette peeling off the handlebar and bumper bar
The faux-leather wrap bubbles, cracks and peels within months. One owner was told by Mamas and Papas that every Ocarro has the same problem, so treat it as a known material flaw rather than damage.
Likely fix: Cosmetic and not repairable. Replacement covers come via Customer Care by phone, though many owners just fit a fabric or neoprene handlebar cover. Push for a goodwill replacement while in warranty.
Ocarro: only one brake locks - the other wheel still moves
A reported Ocarro fault - engaging the brake locks the left wheel but the right keeps moving (or vice versa), which is a real stability risk on any slope.
Likely fix: Safety-critical - don't leave it parked on any incline until checked. Usually one side's brake linkage has slipped or worn, needing that side's brake mechanism replaced.
Ocarro: leatherette on handlebar or bumper bar peels
A very widely reported cosmetic fault - owners report it happens on effectively every Ocarro after enough use, not just unlucky units.
